LAST REFLECTION

1. DID YOU WORK HARD?
Yes, I did. I work harder at the begin of the year, now I'm a little bit tired.

2. DID YOU ORGANIZE YOUR WORK WEEK BY WEEK?
Yes, I did.

3. WHAT WAS MORE DIFFICULT FOR YOU?
I think that more difficult is present the oral presentation correct.

4. WHAT DID YOU LEARN?( new grammar, vocab..)
I learn a lot of new vocabulary, doing the work bank of the workbook. Also I learn new grammar and I think that now I can talk to the audience better than two years ago.

5. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO IMPROVE?
I need practice more the conversation. I know that it's impossible with only one teacher practice a lot the conversetion, but I think that this is what I need. Also I need to learn more vocabulary and grammar.

THE ACTIVITIES
Write about the different activities.Use I like/don't like.. I prefer/ My favourite..

Magazine reading and activities/dialogues/writings/DVD
I think that read the magazine it's very educational, because you learn reading interesting things. Watch the DVD and do a summery it's also interesting, but there are videos that are a little bit boring. But I think that copy the writings and dialogues aren't very useful. It's only copy the dialgoue, and I think that this it's a waste of time.

Films and summaries/Oral presentation/Extra-points projects
I think that watch films and do summeries of this videos it's good to imporve our capactity to explain something. Oral presentation is also good for us, because we must preapred it and explain at the audience, and you can learn a lot doing this. But I don't like extra-points projects like my recipie or narnia. I think that they waste a lot of time and they aren't very important in the mark. I think that the teacher must give importance to this projects, because, for example, in the video of Italy, there are persons who don't do it, and anyone say anything to them. Well, it's an opinion.

My blog preparation
I like to do my blog because it's a potent software that give you the possiblity to upload a lot of things. I hate when the blog don't run, because the connexion is bad.

In conclusion, I think that work in the language room it's very useful and if you work hard, you'll learn a lot. Also I think that the connection with internet it's very bad and this produce that we lose a lot of time.

WHAT'S YOUR BEST ACTIVITY/ACTIVITIES THIS COURSE? (link it)
My best activity was doing the video of italy with Sergi, because was beautiful and interesting remember the moments that we pass in Italy. This is the link:
http://albert4t.blogspot.com/search/label/ITALY

DID YOU LIKE WORKING IN THE LANGUAGE ROOM? Yes, I like.
WHY/WHY NOT? I think that it's a hour you can work hard but also it's a hour that you can relax a little bit than other hours. You learn to work independetly because anyone control what you do.

A DIARY ENTRY

My friend was in trouble yesterday and he's lucky for don't paying a fined. He'd been at a shop and was coming home with me. When we where arriving home, two police arrest him and he was accuse of robbing a CD and he said that he was all the afternoon with me.

I think that my friend was wrong to rob a CD of the shop. He isn't poor so he could buy the CD. If he'd paid the CD, he would've had less money, but he wouldn't have had any problem.

I don't think that this will happen any more. His parents are furious and they've grounded Marc for two months without receive any money. So he's probably learned the lesson now, and I think that he'll never say an other lie.

WRITING: A LETTER: EXPLAINING A PROBLEM

I've had a problem recently. I want to go out at night and my parents say that at 9.30 I must be in my house. They are too strict because they think that I'm young, but I'm to older to return at house more later.
I'm angry because they don't want to talk about this. I think that they should be more tolerant about my life. They are always trying to protect me. But maybe I shouldn't be angry. I usually shout at them when I'm angry and it's possible that for that reason they sometimes don't trust me.
I'd really like some advice because if I don't do something soon, we'll probably have a big argument.

WRITING: AN E-MAIL

SIENNA

When we arrived in Sienna we thank that it will be boring but it was not true. The hotel was great because it has balcony and the beds were so good. The only thing bad was that it hasn't got TV. After leaving the bags, we went out to start visiting the city. We started by the square it was brilliant because it was night and thence we could see the night lights of the city. Then we went to the cathedral. We only saw it for outside but it was great. We went to a restaurant like MCDonalds and we ate pasta with hamburger. We ate very well. After dinner we went to a bar and we were able to see F.C. Barcelona. All the trip after this night people were aphonic. Then we went to sleep about one or two o'clock. In the morning we saw the same square but it was shining the sun. We could see the inside of the cathedral. It was incredible. There were a lot of details, it was beautiful and incredible thought that this was build 600 years ago. UNIT 1

WRITING: GIVING AN OPINION
Most people do exams an dget more than a 5 to pass the course? In my opinion, I think that we must do exams. An exam it's a proof to menostrate what we know. We must study to pass the exams.
I agree to do exams, but I think that it'll count the attitude and the progress in the subject and I feel that this isn't enough to valuate the pupil. An exam is easy and fast to correct and it can evaluate all the thing that have been worked in class, so it's a good method.
Secondly, it's oblivious that we cannot punctuate the pupil only with the criterion of the teacher, we need a lot of professionals in small groups. And I really think that there aren't a lot of teachers qualified to do this work. Man y teachers only know how to correct an exam and when they are explaining the lesson, they only read the book.
In conclusion, I think that exams are positive if they are created and used with criteria. It can be easy for the people who aren't enough intelligent and more difficult for the people who have a lot of capacity. And obliviously we need a method to punctuate the mark, don't we? This is the best of all.

UNIT
These unit talks about a lot of things. First there's a reading that talk about the security on the Internet and the people who protect us. There are gramatical, in concrete the order of the sentences: subject+verb+object+manner (how)+place (where)+time (when). Also we practice the formal verbls, of the stative verbs. Stative verbs are verbs which we use in the present simple, even if they are happenin now.

Albert -Hey! Well done! That's great news. What grades did you get?
Rafel - Four As, two Bs and a C.

NEW ZELAND

There is a reason why New Zealand was the last major land mass to be colonized by humanity - it's a very long way from everywhere else. But this is also why New Zealand remains unspoiled - even today there are only four million people in a country larger than the UK, which has 62 million inhabitants! True, not all of that land is habitable, because New Zealand contains such geographical extremes, from the sub-tropical climat of the North Island, with its active volcanoes, to the fjords and 360 glaciers of the South Island. Welcome to a land like no other The origianl Zealand, the place after which this one is named, is a damp and flat province at the bottom of Holland. Perhaps it is not surprising, then, that so many New Zealanders prefer to call their home by its Maori name: Aotearoa ( "the land of the long white cloud"). Maoris, who first arrived here approximately 1200 years ago, make up eight pe cent of the population, but when you consider the Samoans, Tongans and Cook Islanders that also live here, then New Zealand has the largest Polynesian population in the world. The culture is now more vibrant than it has been in generations, with the language widely spoken and Maoris potentially holding the balance of power in the island's politics. If you think Maori culture is just about the haka before a rugby game, think again.

SPECIAL REPORT

ROBOT SUIT For several years, a Japanese company has been working on a robotic suit that could help the old and the disabled move like an able-bodied person. With their latest version, the HAL-5, they seem to have finally done it. Comprised of robotic limbs and a backpack containing a battery and computer system, the HAL is strapped on to the body, and entirely controlled by thought. When the wearer tries to move, tiny nerve signals in the skin are detected by HAL and converdted into movements. So advanced is the technology that the company is already renting the robot suits (2.300$ a month for just the legs). We assume that it is Japanese humour that made the company chosse Cyberdyne Corporation as its name, a reference to the company responsible for the end of the world in the Terminator movies. At the same time, a rival design, the SOX Exoskeleton, is being developed by the US military that will "increase the speed, strength and endurance of soldiers in combat". Can anyone hear a deep Austrian voice saying "I'll be back."?

PHONE APPLICATIONS Apple did not invent phone applications, nor is their phone the only one that can operate them, but the IPhone has popularized the culture of apps in a way that nobody could have predicted. More than two billion applications have been downloaded from Apple's online store in just over a year. The biggest seller is the childish iFart, which allows user to imitate the sound of farts in a variety of hilarious styles, an idea that earns the company that created it 10.000 $ a day. Others have been more useful and their numbers are growing every day. We have many favourites, including Shazam ( which can listen to a song you like on the radio and tell you who it is sung by) and WC Finder (for when you need to know where the nearest public toilet is).

CINEMA To say that 3-D movies have taken a long time to become accepted is an understatement: the first one (now lost) was produced in 1922, and for gereation they have been considered as little more than a gimmick. All that changed in 2009, however, with a series of films including Up and Avatar. Whereas previous 3-D technology made objects leap forward from the screen, the new technology creates a depth-of-field similar to the way we see the real world. And as James Cameron proved with the 3-D realitzation of his alien planet in Avatar, the technology can now make action scenes more visceral and the visual experience more beautiful. For the film industry, which has lost billions because of internet downloading, 3-D offers the public a good reason to see films in the cinema. One day, no doubt, this advantage will disappear as home screens become 3-D, too. But for the nex few years the magic will be back where it is supposed to be in the cinema.

HERE BEGIN THE THIRD TERM

REFLECTION

What's the best activity for you to learn English?
The best activity I think that it's read the magazine. You can only copy some posts and no more, but if you read all the magazine it's interesting. Also you must search some words and sentences that you don't understand. And when you are reading, you are learning interesting things about the world of english people.
What did you find more difficult? Why?
I really find difficult the phrasal verbs, but this was worked in class. In language class, I think that there aren't anything a lot of difficult. If you do the work every day you don't have to have problem. For say something, I think that when we must give an opinion it's more difficult that when we only have to copy a post.
What's your favorite?
My favorite activity in this term was cooking pasta because we learned how to cook and also we practiced English. When we were cooking we speak english and when we were answer the question we practised english.
What's best blog in class in your opinion?
I think that the best blog in our class is Marc's Matamala Blog. It's organize and it's beautiful. Also the blog has all the information we work. All in all, there are a lot of blogs that are very good.
Write down your objectives for 3rd term.
1- Improve the mark of the gramatical exam in English.
2- Do writing more clear and structurate. Learn how to say something correct in english and don't translate all the sentences to catalan.
3- Beat my pronunciation. I want to learn how to say correctly sentences in english.
Choose 1 activity in your portfolio that really helped you to improve.
I think that record all the dialogues and writings helped me to imporve my pronunciation. When I'm recording I try to do it that better than I can. But well, I learn how to say some sentences and words, but there are a lot of thing that I don't say correctly.
Write 5 comments in your classmates blogs. Be positive!!
I comment the blogs of Pol, Marc Ferrer, Marc Matamala, Marc Nogué and Mariona Punti

WAS KILLER WHALE JUST PLAYING

The largest whale (orca) which exist killed one man the other day. The experts think that the animal was only playing, but this game finish very bad, isn't it? Some experts say that an orca a lot of time in captivity will be more agressive and violent than other orcas. It's not the first time that this happens. All in all, all the thing aren't clear and the police will investigate more.

A DISCUSION ESSAY

Interent has changed the world in the last 30 years. Before the Internet was invented, searching information and communicating with other people used to be more difficult. Nowadays it's easy to search information.

Books are also important. They are always here, and they don't depend on the connection in your house. They are made of paper, it's true, but if you have a book you always have information into the book. Internet, however, can have cause problems with the server and then, we can't use it.

All in all, I think that Internet is a better invention, because it's more useful and in future it will be more eco-friendly, because it doesn't waste wood.

PEOPLE

EMMA WATSON, A MODEL STUDENT

Emma Watson, 19, who plays swotty Hermione in the Harry Potter movies, is also a brain in real life. The British acress is now studying at the prestigious Brown University on Rhode Island, one of the oldest universities in the USA. The university is expensive but gives financial aid to those who need it. Still, as the new face of Burberry, that shouldn't be a problem for Watson, who could be the best-dressed student on campus. OBAMA FLY KILLER

When Barack Obama swatted and killed a fly in a recent interview, not everyone was impressed. PETA, the animal rights organization, expressed regret for the "execution" and sent the US president a special bug-catching device that allows house flies to be trapped and then released outside. "We support compassion for even the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals," said PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich.

DANGEROUS CELEBRITIES

She may not look it but Jessica Biel is dangerous, very dangerous... in cyberspace, that is. The American actress, ex-model and girlfriend of Justin Timberlake has been named the most dangerous celebrity to search for on the internet. A report by internet security company McAfee Inc. found that fans searching for Biel have a 20 per cent chance of visiting a website that hosts malicious software and computer viruses. Beyoncé and Jennifer Aniston came second and third.

INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE

THE WEST WING CENTER OF POWER

The legendary Oval Office is here, not in the main part of the White House. Although it was the largest house in the USA when it was inaugurated in 1800, it wasn't long before it was too small to contain the work of government and be used as a home. The West and East wings were thus added, but even these are small and office space is tight for most people in govenment. There are two indicators of status - how close your office is to the president, and whether you have a window. But to have an office anywhere on the first floor of the West Wing, however small and airless, is to be at the pinnacle of power.
The secret Service are in the basement, as is the Situation Room, the communication centre from which the president and the military operate in the event of a crisis.

THE GARDEN: SPORTS, LEISURE AND PLAY

Looking out of the oval Office windows, the president has a view over the South Lawn of the White House. As well as providing a landing pad for the presidential have revealed their sporting enthusiasms (apart from the bowling alley under the North Portico, iniitially installed by President Truman).
Bill Clinton had a jogging track put in to help exercise away his beloved burgers. President Gerald Ford (1974-77) added a pool near the Oval Office, also accessible by an underground pasage from the West Wing. Nearby is the basketball court installed by George H W Bush in 1991, and the tennis court put in by Franklin Roosevelt a little more than a century ago. Between them is a children's play area created by Lyndon Johnson in 1968, where the children of subsequent presidents have left prints of their hands in concrete as movie stars do in Los Angeles. The latest addition is Michelle Obama's kitchen garden, right.

THE MAIN RESIDENCE: FIRST FAMILY APARTMENTS

The central part of the White House has a dual function. The ground floor is used for diplomatic receptions and can be visited by tourists.
The presidential family live right above and, with each change of administration, the apartments are redecorated according to the taste of the new occupants. Although Congress allocate a budget for this, the media and opposition usually attack any sign of extravagance or bad taste. The Obamas have avoided this problem by paying for the redecoration themselves.
THE EAST WING: PRIVATE THEATER, EMERGENCY BUNKER
The East Wing contains the First Lady's office, support staff for the White House, and a theatre in which the First Family can enjoy one of the privileges of the job: the screening of any movie they wish, often before its cinematic release.

George W.Bush was said to be a fan of the Austin Powers films, and frequently raised his little finger to his mouth in imitation of Dr Evil. The Obama family's tastes are not yet public knowledge.
Below the East Wing is the Presidential Emergency Operations Center, an underground bunker from which the president and key government figures can work in case of attack.
